Hey everyone!
It's been a busy two weeks for me and if you’re on our social media and in the group then you already know!
I’ll do a quick recap!
I got an invite to attend the Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa Summit in Gaborone, Botswana and it was amazing! Being surrounded by young and inspiring entrepreneurs from all over the world - there was a lot to learn, experience and take in.
Personally, while I was there I did a few things like hosting a dinner for female founders & operators. Pitch the Kumu Circle community to a VC, a Forbes lister and Davido
and generally connect with amazing individuals who taught me a lot about putting yourself out there and chasing your dreams, putting in the work and believing in yourself.
On the plane home, I started a list of post-summit thoughts and I’ll share some with you all today.
Detours can be beneficial- I think after spending most of your life till you turn 21 on a straight and narrow path you can get quite comfortable with knowing what the next step is supposed to be. However, the real world doesn’t work like that and so sometimes take a detour. I had no intentions of attending the summit until a few weeks before it was meant to start
Know your strengths and play to them, in any situation- I had personal goals for the summit and I’ll say I achieved them and then some because I played to my strengths. Know what you’re good at ( everyone has something) and use it to your advantage. If you don’t know then ask 2-3 people closest to you to tell you and see if that sparks any ideas of your own
Where the things you need or want don’t exist then try and create them yourself- Kumu exists because I needed a community and apparently so did a lot of other amazing women! A lot of the people I met were solving problems that started with them but then their solutions went way beyond them!
Keep reinventing the wheel- change is the only constant, so don’t be afraid to switch things up in life, your career, or your business!
Be generous - with your time, your resources, your money, and your speech! It’s a great way to leave an impression
Connect - make friends, collaborate, network with your peers - most times these relationships push you further than you think!
